Television in Pakistan plays host to dozens of drama serials, which means it’s important to keep track of productions that matter and the ones that don’t. One worthy effort coming up very soon on local screens (that caught our eye) is a drama serial called Seeta Bagri. Aside from the fact that it is actor Adnan Siddiqui’s first project as producer, the upcoming serial takes into account the lives of the Hindu community residing in Pakistan.

With a cast that includes versatile actors like Sarwat Gillani, Bushra Ansari, Shabbir Jan and Hasan Niazi, the play should make it to the short-list of all those who enjoy dramas with grit.

Seeta Bagri follows the story of a Hindu girl called Seeta (played by Gillani), an educationist, who is a staunch supporter of women’s right to education and provides free education to underprivileged girls in her community.  The play aims to highlight her struggle and how her Muslim friends support her in difficult times.

Written and directed by Iqbal Hosain, Seeta Bagri hopes to promote religious harmony in the country. Veteran actor Adnan Siddiqui, who is donning producer’s hat for this play, believes that it’s a “CSR responsibility” to invest in a story that aims to convey a positive message to viewers.

“As it’s my first production I want to take on a project, which is not only different but has a beautiful message embedded into it,” Siddiqui stated in a press statement regarding Seeta Bagri.

Renowned singer Sukhwinder Singh, from across the border, has lent his vocals to the play’s original soundtrack while the music is composed by Sajid-Wajid and Udan Khatola.

Seeta Bagri will go on air sometime in November.
