The journey of Dev Patel’s acting career is accentuated by a collection of entertaining and notable projects. From Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire to Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel franchise and now Lion, his career is littered with a series of unforgettable performances.

With the all-star Lion, the actor is generating some serious buzz and could land his first major acting Oscar nod.

This became apparent once more as the film picked up a “tear-soaked” response upon its arrival at the prestigious BFI London Film Festival after receiving a similar response at Toronto.

Patel is also in the spotlight for being one of the eight contenders for The Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Virtuoso Award. The trophy is for his performance in Lion and will be awarded to him at the 32nd edition of the festival, which will begin in February 2017.

While Lion charts a course for Academy glory, Patel has moved on to his next project, which is called Hotel Mumbai. Based on the 2008 terrorist attacks on the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai, it will feature Patel alongside Social Network star Armie Hammer with the former also playing executive producer to the project.

The film’s screenplay draws its story from the Emmy-nominated documentary Surviving Mumbai and is being spearheaded by Academy-Award nominated director Anthony Maras.
