Like his former band mate Ali Azmat, musician Salman Ahmed has welcomed the opportunity of working in Bollywood by lending his music and acting chops to Rhythm, a new film from director Vivek Kumar.

Described as a musical love story, Rhythm was shot mostly in Poland and features Pakistani singer-turned-actor Adeel Chaudhry in his debut Bollywood avatar alongside one Rinil Rauth. The big news of course is that Rhythm features Ahmed on two songs and in a special acting role (as a cupid of sorts).

“I never thought of acting in a film but when Vivek asked me to act besides giving music to the film I thought of giving it a shot. I will work as an angel between the couple in the movie,” Ahmed told radioandmusic.com

Cupid in Bollywood terms could mean anything really which means this cameo will be worth watching for amusement purposes if for no other reason.

As for the sound of his music, Ahmed has delivered two tracks (including a duet with Sunidhi Chauhan) for the film and is playing to his “Sufi” strength on the soundtrack.

“I think the song ‘Yaaron’ that I did with Sunidhi Chauhan is a powerful song,” Ahmed told TOI and continued, “Also ‘Kaise Bolu’ is equally nice. They are modern but possess the Sufi touch.”

Outside of the cameo, Salman might even make a film on Junoon. When asked about the possibility, Ahmed admitted that it may be the next step and told Times of India: “I think so. I really enjoyed working with Vivek. So I think this might just be the next step for me.”
