Tom Cruise, a follower of Scientology, a controversial 'religion', faces new allegations

Hollywood star Tom Cruise, a famous Scientologist, has been accused of "personally" punishing a fellow Scientologist.

What Is Scientology

It is a body of religious beliefs and practices launched in 1952 by American author L. Ron Hubbard. He went on to re characterize a program of  ideas called Dianetics as a religion and renamed it Scientology.

Hubbard's groups have encountered considerable opposition and controversy.[14] In January 1951, the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners brought proceedings against Dianetics Foundation on the charge of teaching medicine without a license.[15] Hubbard's followers engaged in a program of criminal infiltration of the U.S. government.

Germany classifies Scientology groups as an "anti-constitutional sect". In France, they have been classified as a dangerous cult by some  parliamentary reports..

'Tom Cruise   is far more complicit than people  believe '

Leah Remini, an American actress who was also Scientologist until 2013, said in an interview that the "Top Gun" actor is far more complicit when it comes to Scientology then people believe.

'Scientologists are told that Tom Cruise is saving the world single-handedly, so he is considered a deity within Scientology,' said Remini, who revealed that staff members even call him 'Mister Cruise'.

'He is second to David Miscagie - the savior of the free world,' she added. 'He's privy to the punishments that David Miscavige doles out.' 

Remini said their friendship has given Cruise access to Scientology's 'internal operations' including their 'penchant for corporal punishment'. 

Remini claims that another Scientologist official also told her that Cruise followed Miscavige's orders and personally administered punishment on a high-ranking church member.

'He is not in the same category as the average Scientologist,' she said.
