Ranveer-Deepika to tie the knot in a Sindhi wedding today
A Sindhi wedding starts with pre-wedding festivities such as Kacchi Misri ritual that entails a formal meeting between the bride and the groom’s family after the wedding gets fixed.
Padmaavat actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone finally got married on Wednesday in a Konkani-style ceremony and are all set to tie the knot as per Sindhi rituals today, owing to Ranveer’s Sindhi heritage. According to India Today, the ceremony will begin any minute now at the exotic Villa del Balbienello, Lake Como in Italy.
A Sindhi wedding starts with pre-wedding festivities such as Kacchi Misri ritual that entails a formal meeting between the bride and the groom’s family after the wedding gets fixed.
The family then gift each other presents, which is then followed by an informal engagement ceremony.
This is succeeded by Pakki Misri, a formal engagement ceremony where the groom’s family presents gifts like jewellery, clothes to the bride. The mother of the groom presents the bride’s mother with a pot filled with misri, after which other rituals follow suit.
Ranveer and Deepika have been in a relationship for the last six years. They met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’ in November 2012.
The couple decided to hold their wedding on the same date the special film was released, back in 2013. As per reports, Ranveer and Deepika will hold two lavish receptions, one in Mumbai and the second in Deepika’s hometown Bengaluru.
