KARACHI: Pakistani film and TV actress Saba Qamar has refuted the claim about her working in a sequal of Bollywood film ‘Hindi Medium’, according to a local website.

Speaking to a blog on the website, the actress said that she has not signed up for the sequal of the Indian blockbuster and she was never approached for it.

The website said that Saba will not be a part of the possible sequel due to the ban on Pakistani artistes in Bollywood – which has remained implemented since 2016.

Earlier, it was reported in Indian media that Saba and Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Hindi Medium’ has a sequel underway for the cinemas, after the franchise grossed a 102 crore success at the box office last year.

Producer Bhushan Kumar has anticipated the awaiting sequel to the ‘Hindi Medium’ franchise with an announcement that the working on the sequel is already on the move.

“The script is ready and we are starting pre-production of the film. ‘Hindi Medium’ was my first award as a producer. People loved the film and Irrfan is ready as well. We will be going on the floors once the preparatory work is complete,” the Indian sources quoted Bhushan.

Bollywood debutante Saba Qamar went blessed with instant fame with ‘Hindi Medium’ where the actress appeared leading throughout the beginning of the movie.

The starlet had earlier expressed her gusto regarding the sequel with expectations that she might star alongside Irrfan Khan in the upcoming sequel.

The Filmfare-winning ‘Hindi Medium’ chronices the story of Raj and Mita who yearn to get Pia, their daughter, educated from a reputed school. When they learn that their background is holding her back, they are willing to go to any lengths to change her fate.

Saba had also won the Filmfare’s best actress nomination for her role but it could not make the Indian coveted award for her.
