FBI arrests another suspect linked to ShinyHunters case, Kash Patel says
FBI arrests another suspected member of the ShinyHunters hacking group
FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly announced on Friday the bureau has arrested another person involved with the ShinyHunters hacking group.
Patel stated in a statement, “Our agents in the field have arrested another suspected co-conspirator of the ShinyHunters group.”
He believed them to be liable for the recent breach at the FBI jobs site that has compromised a vast amount of sensitive employee information.
This marks the third arrest since news of the breach was announced in September. Earlier, a suspected ShinyHunters hacker linked to the theft of FBI data has been detained in Jordan this week.
The sources said that Saif-al-Din Khadar was detained by Jordanian authorities. Reuters could not determine the circumstances of his detention. Separately, two sources said that he is helping the FBI and global law enforcement track down the remaining cell members.
The FBI declined to confirm any specific arrest but said that the bureau continues to probe the recent cyber incident involving Shiny Hunters, and that it is collaborating with partner agencies to apprehend multiple suspects stating that authorities will exhaust all avenues to ensure every single perpetrator is held accountable.
Furthermore, Patel said that the bureau will continue to work efficiently with our partners to disrupt what is left of the ShinyHunters group and their affiliates regardless of jurisdiction.
