Pete Davidson to critics of Ariana Grande's body
Pete Davidson shares kind words for ex-fiancee Ariana Grande
Pete Davidson says the online chatter about his ex-fiancée Ariana Grande's body is messed up but he believes she can handle it.
The 32-year-old comedian shared the recent remarks on Wednesday in a new interview, telling Variety that Grande, 33, "will be OK."
"I don't like it at all," he said of the body scrutiny. "She's a really strong person. I've witnessed it, and I don't understand it. She knows how to handle this stuff though. She's been around. So she’ll be OK, but I think it’s fucked up.”
Grande announced through her rep in August that she was "taking a step back from visibility" because of "endless, ongoing" concern about her weight.
Last month, she told fans at an "Eternal Sunshine" tour stop in Chicago that online negativity is "ruining things for" her.
Since the tour ended on Sept. 1, Page Six hears Grande has been "laying low" in Los Angeles with boyfriend Ricky Alvarez, whom she first dated from 2015 to 2016 and got back together with earlier this year.
Davidson and Grande had a quick romance in 2018. He proposed just weeks in, and they split that October.
Now, Davidson calls her an "awesome girl" who is "f****** cool" and "immensely talented." As for where they stand, he said, "We're not texting or whatever, but we're cool."
In the same interview, he talked about becoming a dad to daughter Scottie with ex Elsie Hewitt and his recent time in rehab, where he said he gave up heavy drug use, including ketamine, acid, mushrooms and whippets.
