Netflix moves to 'change' its approach to films in theaters
Netflix's latest decisions reportedly point to a change in the works
Netflix is known for limited theatrical releases, and the movie then lands on the streaming platform.
But according to Variety, the company seems to be changing its attitude.
La Bola Negra, for example, starring Penélope Cruz, will stay in theatres much longer than previous Netflix films.
A 46-day theatrical run, which is stunning given the traditional Hollywood run is nearly 45 days.
And La Bola Negra is no exception. Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew will have roughly 50 days, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will have 47 days at Christmas.
Insiders, on the reported change of attitude, told the outlet, “The exhibitors would absolutely welcome this. Imagine if Netflix of all places threw its weight behind a real theatrical marketing campaign and not some awards play."
