Rob Reiner receives major honor 9 months after his death

Rob Reiner, famed for directing When Harry Met Sally, received a posthumous Emmy award 9 months after his death.

The late filmmaker and actor, who made a guest appearance as Albert Schnurr in The Bear honored with Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday.

As Rob's family members were not present at the event, Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Alan Grier, who also presented the category accepted the trophy on his behalf.

And the crowd present at the award show gave the late director a lengthy standing ovation.

This marked Rob's third Emmy award and eighth career Emmy nomination of his career. He previously received two Emmys in 1974 and 1978, both for his role as Michael Stivic in All in the Family.

Other nominees for the same category were Brett Goldstein, Michael J. Fox, Hamish Linklater, Connor Storrie, and Christopher McDonald.

For those unaware of Rob's murder, the director and his wife, Michele Reiner, were killed in their Brentwood apartment back in December 2025.

As per a recent update on Rob and Michele's murder case, their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder and he has pleaded not guilty.
