Radiohead answer fans demand with new 2027 residency shows
Radiohead announced a string of 2027 upon demand
Radiohead have announced a run of residency shows in Australia and Japan for 2027.
The Oxford group returned to the stage in the UK and Europe last year, marking their first live dates together since 2018.
They played a run of 20 arena concerts across five cities, including four nights at London’s O2.
Then, in March, guitarist Ed O’Brien confirmed that the band had plans to hit the road again in 2027 and beyond.
“What we’re going to do is, every year we’re going to do a different continent, and we’re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less,” he said at the time.
Now, the band have announced 21 shows next year, set to take place in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, followed by a run in Saitama, Japan.
To reduce competition from bots and ticket scalpers, tickets are only available to fans who register on Radiohead’s official website.
Fans have also been speculating that Radiohead may be returning to Tokyo, after teasers appeared featuring the band at this year’s Summer Sonic music festival in the city.
The reunion shows saw Radiohead break the attendance record for London’s O2, surpassing Metallica, who had held the title since 2017.
In the capital, the band’s dates raised money for the LIVE Trust, which represents the UK’s live music and entertainment sector, along with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) for their European shows.
