'Rose Tattoo's last surviving member suffers cardiac arrest

Australian rocker Angry Anderson rushed to a medical center after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The 79-year-old lead singer of band Rose Tattoo is under critical care and receiving "treatment" in the hospital, his family announced in a statement.

The statement read, "On behalf of Angry and his family, we would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming messages of support, love, and kind words.

"Your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes mean more to Angry and his family than we can express. We would like to let everyone know that Angry suffered a cardiac arrest and is currently in hospital receiving treatment and the care he needs."

They continued, "At this time, we kindly ask that you please respect the privacy of Angry and his family as they focus on Angry, his treatment, and his recovery. We appreciate everyone's understanding and ask that you continue to keep Angry and his family in your thoughts and prayers during the days ahead."

Expressing gratitude to fans after their support for Angry, they added, "It is comforting to know just how many people are thinking of Angry and wishing him strength in his recovery."

Angry, whose real name is Gary Stephen Anderson, is the longest-surviving remaining member of the hard rock band Rose Tattoo.

His 1987 song Suddenly became a global hit at the time after it reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart.

Angry became an advocate of men's health after five of his Rose Tattoo bandmates died tragically due to cancer.
