James Bond bosses urged not to reinvent iconic white male 007

As speculation has been rife on who will wield the 'license to kill' as James Bond, a suggestion has been made.

Nicholas Pinnock, a star behind Toy Boy, was the face to make it.

In his interview with Radio Times, he urged 007 franchise bosses not to tinker with the iconic spy's identity.

Meaning, there have been rumours about unveiling a 'Black Bond' - it drew mixed responses from the fans.

However, Pinnock, a Black star tipped to portray 007, has made his stance clear: Bond should remain a white male character.

He first gave the example of Laurence T, also known as Mr T - a wrestler-turned-actor.

“There are some roles that need to stay as they are,” he said, adding, “If Mr T were to change into someone of European descent tomorrow, there would be absolute outrage. And I can understand why, because he’s an iconic figure.”

Similarly, Pinnock advised the Bond franchise against reinventing the 007 agent.

“I grew up with James Bond looking and acting a certain way,” he shared, adding, “I don’t want it to change."

"You go to watch a James Bond movie, you know that James Bond’s going to be this English, Scottish or Irish guy with a slick accent, with kick-arse moves, who gets all the ladies."

"Great! I want him to stay like that. I don’t think changing him and ticking a box is the answer," he noted.

Pinnock's remarks come as Amazon, which newly acquired the MGM - Bond's parent company - is set to take the franchise in a new direction.
