Matthew McConaughey teaches his children how to 'become immortal'

Matthew McConaughey recently confessed that he does not want his children to follow in his footsteps.

The 56-year-old American actor sat with PEOPLE magazine to promote his new movie, The Rivals of Amziah King, in which he plays a beekeeper and bluegrass musician who reunites with his former foster daughter after many years apart and fights to protect his honey business.

While discussing some of the lessons he learnt from the movie’s story, McConaughey reflected on passing some of his wisdom to his own children.

He said, “Every parent out there, what do you want for your children? You want to pass on some values and things that you built in your own life.”

“You don’t want them to be exactly like you, but you want them to take some things and keep them alive after you are gone. That’s how you become immortal,” the Interstellar star stated.

For those unaware, McConaughey shares his three children, sons Levi, 18, Livingston, 13, and daughter Vida, 16, with his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey.

It is pertinent to mention that The Rivals of Amziah King opened in theatres with a limited release on August 14, 2026.
