What is NVIDIA Alpamayo 2 Super? Everything you need to know

NVIDIA Alpamayo 2 Super is reportedly now available for commercial use on Hugging Face- a significant move for the most widely adopted family of open reasoning models for autonomous driving providing comprehensive support for AV-relevant capabilities within a single foundation model.

It is developed on the NVIDIA Cosmos 3 Super Reasoner and preference optimized as the model advances the AV ecosystem on two fronts: open commercial licensing and end-to-end autonomous driving.

Jensen Huang announced in a post on social platform X, “Today we are launching Alpamayo 2 Super, our frontier open reasoning model for autonomous vehicles, Alpamayo understands and reasons through the complex world…”

Alpamayo 2 Super explained

Alpamayo 2 Super is part of NVIDIA’s expanding ecosystem of open models, datasets and tools for autonomous driving- intensifying competition and giving developers full control for safer and more transparent AV deployments.

It is available on Hugging Face under OpenMDW-1.-a crucial Linux Foundation’s reciprocal license for OpenAI model distributions.

The license covers modified works and commercial redistribution, allowing AV developers, automakers and suppliers to adapt Alpamayo to their own deployment strategies.

In terms of speed, it enables frontier-scale reasoning in cloud-based development allowing developers to generate high-quality reasoning.

Alpamayo model delivers the highest driving performance

Alpamayo 2 delivers the highest reasoning and driving performance for multimodal sensor fusion while Alpamayo 1.5 and Alpamayo 1 provide more cost-optimized cloud engineering alternatives with model distillation helping overcome the restrictions that conventional systems often face.

It can also be deployed as an auto-labeler to generate CoC labels and perform multimodal answering with 2D fleet data. This model can transform new driving clips into richer training data by linking to specific regions in camera images.

Nonetheless, Alpamayo 2 Super supports model review and evaluation and knowledge distillation, enabling developers to use a single foundation across their automated development pipeline.
