Queen Camilla steps up as Prince William makes strides in cause close to royals
Queen Camilla visits Norfolk as patron of charity working to tackle homelessness
Queen Camilla travelled to Norfolk to offer her support to a charity which says it’s “empowering people out of homelessness and trauma. “
A statement issued by the royal family said, “In sunny Norfolk, The Queen visited Emmaus Norfolk Waveney, a charity that offers home, support and work opportunities to people experiencing homelessness.”
It said, “Her Majesty, who has been Patron of Emmaus UK for twenty years, visited the charity’s new centre for women. Residents, known as companions, shared with The Queen their experiences of overcoming homelessness and recovering from trauma.”
The statement added, “Her Majesty also visited the on-site charity shop, a working forge where companions make jewellery to sell, and the new “Book Nook” supported by TheQueens Reading Room.”
Queen Camilla is not the only member of the British royal family working to prevent homelessness in the country.
Prince William, the heir to the throne, also launched an initiative Homewards UK to eliminate homelessness.
Last month, William said the charity he set up to show tackle homelessness can be prevented had helped thousands of people avoid a housing crisis as he marked the project's three-year anniversary.
William, 44, has for decades worked for causes supporting homeless people, inspired by a visit with his mother, the late Princess Diana, to a shelter for people living on the streets when he was 11. She died in a car crash four years later.
He set up Homewards in 2023 and believes homelessness is an area where, as a future king, he can make a difference.
