David Beckham’s Spain tribute features King

Former English footballer David Beckham on Monday took to Instagram to congratulate Spain on their FIFA 2026 World Cup victory.

Spain beat Argentina after extra time thanks ⁠to a goal by substitute Ferran Torres ⁠to clinch their second World Cup.

Beckham, who was awarded knighthood by Britian’s King Charles III, chose Spanish King Felipe VI photo to be the first photo of his carousel post on Instagram.

“Congratulations to Spain on the perfect tournament,” he wrote in both English and Spanish language captions.

David Beckham, one of Britain's most celebrated soccer players, was knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle in November last year.

Beckham is known as a lifelong admirer of the British royal family.

Born in east London, Beckham made his Premier League debut for Manchester United in 1995, two years after he joined as a trainee. He went on to win six league titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League with the club, before playing for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia also travelled to the US to cheer on their national team in the 2026 World Cup final.
