Iran warns Strait of Hormuz is ‘Red Line’ amid US strikes
Iran announced their attacks against US facilities in Kuwait and Jordan on Thursday
Iran declared on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz is an inviolable "red line", warning it would strike infrastructure across the entire Gulf region if President Trump follows through on threats to hit Iranian power plants and bridges.
The warning came as the US carried out a fifth consecutive night of strikes on Iran and reimposed a naval blockade of Iranian ports.
"An existential war with America"
Top Iranian negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf described the ongoing struggle as an "existential war" for Iran after the latest attacks by the United States.
According to Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, the spokesman for the army, Iran still has "every single point of its territory". He rejects the US position that the strait has been forcibly reopened despite the usual daily passage of about one-fifth of global oil and gas trade through the area.
Three US officials told Reuters that the attacks aimed at preventing Iran from threatening ships are designed to degrade the overall military power of Iran in preparation for future attacks.
The Iran announced their attacks against US facilities in Kuwait and Jordan on Thursday, issuing a threat to the surrounding states that having American troops will not remain without reaction.
The Iranian Army claimed attacks with ballistic missiles on the Al Azraq Air Base of Jordan, while the Revolutionary Guard claimed destruction of a communications satellite station and radar station at Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base.
