Prince William to give up Forest Lodge?
Prince William could be forced to leave Forest Lodge
Prince William and Kate Middleton's home at Forest Lodge may not be forever.
Royal watchers suggest that the Prince and princess of Wales may have to give up their home once William becomes a King.
William and Kate moved into the eight-bedroom Windsor property in 2025 after signing a 20-year lease. The move from nearby Adelaide Cottage was seen as a fresh start for the couple and their three children especially after Kate's cancer diagnosis in 2024.
However, MailOnline reported that the Prince of Wales' future as monarch could complicate the plans of keeping Forest Lodge as their long-term home. As per the outlet, a former courtier suggested that while Buckingham Palace is no longer considered an essential royal residence, the reigning monarch is still expected to live near the monarchy's administrative headquarters in central London.
This comes after King Charles' decision to remain at Clarence House instead of moving into Buckingham Palace after the palace's extensive refurbishment is completed. While Buckingham Palace will continue serving as the monarchy's official headquarters, Charles has opted to keep Clarence House as his private residence.
Now, Prince William may face similar pressure to establish a home closer to the palace once he ascends the throne. The Prince of Wales may have options of Clarence House or apartments within St. James's Palace.
