Lizzo gets candid about weight fluctuations
Lizzo has remained quite open regarding her weight loss journey despite critics body shaming her
Lizzo just gave raw insights into her body weight loss and gain.
The 38-year-old singer deflected specific questions about why she has lost so much weight.
"There are a lot of reasons. People always want to make it one single headline, one single thing. A lot of things can be true at once," she said in an interview with The Guardian.
The About Damn Time singer also mentioned, "I was in a place where my physical weight was causing joint pain and aches. I also got to the point where I came off the internet, and all I had was the studio and my thoughts, so I poured myself into the things I could control. My body, my lifestyle, my routines and habits... and this is who I am today."
The star has been losing weight since 2024, although has denied using GLP-1s but she revealed that her weight continues to fluctuate.
"I've gained 20 pounds (9kg) since last year, so everyone can ask me about weight gain, too, if they'd like," Lizzo said in the interview.
"There's a system of oppression that is constantly putting pressure on, especially women and especially women in the spotlight. That system is unrelenting and it is determined to make you feel s**t about yourself,” she added.
“It won't stop until you've bought every product and you've bought into every lie and turned it in on yourself. That system is working at an all-time high right now,” Lizzo said of the pressures she faces along with her weight fluctuations.
