Claude Fable 5 is available again starting Wednesday, ending a suspension that began June 12 when the US. The Department of Commerce ordered Anthropic to cut off all access over export control concerns. Not everyone gets it back the same way.

Anthropic says Fable 5 will be available globally on the Claude platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise users get the model included in up to 50% of their weekly usage limits through July 7. After that window closes, continued access shifts to usage credits rather than a flat allowance.

Mythos 5 was never opened to the general public, even before the ban. Anthropic has only reinstated it for a limited set of US organisations, following a government approval granted June 26.

The company says it's now working with regulators to widen that circle to more domestic and international partners through its Glasswing programme, though no public rollout is planned.

However, Fable 5 will not be making a quick return to the cloud services of AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry. All Anthropic can offer regarding support for these services is that "It will be available as soon as possible."

There has been a ban due to vulnerabilities found by Amazon researchers in Fable 5 that could get past the security features of Fable 5.

The company admits that this vulnerability cannot lead to the disclosure of Mythos capabilities and has installed another security feature that could prevent such things but will also report legitimate coding and debugging requests.
