‘Blasphemy against AI’: SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son fires back at AI bubble claims
Son also announced the plans to manufacture robots at a physical AI plant
SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son has delivered an explosive response to those skeptics who have been talking about the AI bubble bursting.
Speaking at the annual general meeting, SoftBank founder dismissed AI bubble fears, stating, “I think it's blasphemy against AI if you say it's a bubble. It's just the beginning. AI's potential will be unlocked.”
Son utilized the annual shareholder meeting to reaffirm his vision for the company, focusing on artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and long-term growth.
The 68-year-old Japanese conglomerate has expressed commitment to leading the company into his 70s with the goal of achieving Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) which he defines as technology 10,000 times smarter than a human.
SoftBank is also actively building data centers in the US. Moreover, the founder is also interested in investing in Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) to boost up the power supplies and establish data centers in Japan.
"If (TEPCO) were to join our group, we would increase power supply and bring AI data centers to Japan," he said.
Son also announced the plans to manufacture robots at a physical AI plant, claiming the firm is the first in the world to do this at such a massive scale. He has not yet revealed further details.
"I think we're the first in the world to have robots manufacturing robots at scale," Son added.
