Susan Boyle reveals flirty fan letters in her mid 60s
Susan Boyle says admirers still send romantic letters years after fame as she shares positive health update and teases new music
Susan Boyle jokes she has "no strength" for romance as she shares health and work update.
The 65-year-old singer made the comments during an appearance on STV Radio’s What’s On Scotland, where she spoke about her health, career and future music plans.
During the show, Susan joked that some male fans seem to believe she might be interested in them romantically.
“Some men who like to think I fancy them,” she said. However, the singer quickly laughed off the idea of starting a relationship, adding, “At my age, I don’t have the strength.”
During the interview, Susan also shared an update on her recovery after suffering a stroke in 2022. She said she is feeling much better and has overcome most of the effects of the illness.
“I wasn’t too well. I had a stroke for a wee while there, but I’ve got over most of it,” she explained.
The singer added that some people mistakenly think she sounds drunk because of the lingering effects of her health condition. “Some people think I sound as if I’m drunk, but I’m not,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Susan remains positive and determined to continue working. “I was seriously ill but I’m back on it now. They couldn’t shut me up for long enough!” she joked.
Susan also paid tribute to her loyal fans, saying their support helped her through some of the most difficult periods of her life.
She said fans regularly wrote to her when she was struggling and their encouragement gave her the strength to keep going.
The interview comes as Susan returns to the recording studio and works on new music. She revealed she has recently been recording songs with songwriter Diane Warren, who has written hits for artists including Cher and Aerosmith.
Although her last studio album was released in 2016, she hinted that new music could arrive in the future.
"It’s very nice that I can take my time because I’m a perfectionist. I like to get things right,” she added.
