Meghan Trainor's husband Daryl Sabara opens up about personal loss
'Spy Kids' star Daryl Sabara pays tribute to father despite limited relationship
Actor Daryl Sabara has lost his father, Roland Sabara, just days before Father's Day.
The 34-year-old, who plays Juni Cortez in the Spy Kids franchise, shared the news on Instagram on June 19 with a photo of himself with his father.
In the caption, Sabara revealed that Roland had passed away the previous night. He also shared that two only saw each other a few times throughout his life, but called those moments special to him.
"I know he did the best he could, and I know he’s in a better place now," he wrote further and shortly received messages of support from friends and fellow celebrities, including actress Essence Atkins and singer Nicole Scherzinger.
The actor has previously spoken about having a difficult relationship with his father. In an earlier interview, he revealed that his father left the family when he was just one year old.
Sabara said becoming a father himself helped him process those feelings. He explained that raising his own children gave him the opportunity to become the kind of father he wished he had growing up.
Sabara is married to singer Meghan Trainor, and the couple share three children: sons Riley and Barry, and daughter Mikey Moon, who was born earlier this year through surrogacy.
The sad news comes days after Sabara celebrated his 34th birthday with his family, pictures and videos of which his wife, Trainor, shared on social media.
Neither Sabara nor his family has shared further details about his father's death.
