Tom Holland eyes mentoring role, as he picks 'super-talented' 'Spider-Man' successor
Tom Holland gave surprising name for next Spider-Man
Tom Holland is open to be the mentor of the next Spider-Man and has already named the “super-talented” young actor he sees as his successor.
In a recent chat with Esquire, the 30-year-old British actor articulated his thoughts on the future in the Marvel franchise and gave Adolescence star Owen Cooper his vote for the next Spider-Man in line.
Tom, who has been playing Spider-Man since 2017, showed his interest in getting "a producing credit on future movies," but, because it is “pretty tough to get," Tom will remain connected as a mentor to his Spider-Man successor.
He then recalled how Iron Man actor Robert Downey supported him the same way.
“In the way that Robert Downey was such a mentor for me in my first three movies, I would love to be that person for whoever is next,” Tom said of his co-star.
As for who he thinks can take his place as Spider-Man, Tom weighed in for "super-talented" Owen.
Tom shared, “Owen Cooper would be awesome. Obviously he's super-talented and the talk of the town right now."
It is important to mention that Owen, who is just 16 years old, has won three distinct accolades for his performance in Netflix's limited series Adolescence.
At the 2026 Golden Globes, he was honored with the Best Supporting Actor on Television title.
Owen won the Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards and the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
