Seth Rogen reflects on fallout with former co-star James Franco

Seth Rogen has said he does not plan to work with his former friend and frequent co-star, James Franco, again.

Rogen and Franco first worked together on the TV series Freaks and Geeks. They later starred in several successful films, including Pineapple Express, This Is the End, and The Interview.

Their professional relationship changed after Franco was accused of inappropriate behaviour by several women in 2018.

In 2019, two former acting students filed a lawsuit against Franco, claiming he behaved inappropriately and abused his position as a teacher and employer.

Franco denied the allegations but later settled the lawsuit in 2021 for $2.23 million. Since then, Rogen and Franco have not worked together.

In an interview with The New York Times, Rogen described the situation as personal and said nothing has changed since he last spoke about it. "I haven't worked with him in a really long time and I have no plans to," he said.

When asked if he still speaks with Franco, Rogen replied that he has not talked to him in a long time. The last project they worked on together was The Disaster Artist.

Rogen had previously suggested he might work with Franco again in the future, but his position later changed. In 2021, he said he strongly opposes abuse and harassment and would not knowingly put people in uncomfortable situations.

Franco has also acknowledged that their friendship appears to be over. In a 2024 interview, he said he had not spoken to Rogen and described the end of their friendship as painful.

Since settling the lawsuit, Franco has returned to acting and has appeared in several film projects. He is also expected to appear in the upcoming movie John Rambo.
