Deezer launches free AI music detector across major streaming platforms: Here’s why
The company is reportedly licensing its AI-detection technology to the broader music industry
A prominent French music platform, Deezer, has reportedly taken a significant step to detect AI-generated tracks in playlists used across major streaming platforms.
Meanwhile, the company is also licensing its AI-detection technology to the broader music industry just like the one building on a similar agreement previously signed with France’s royalty agency Sacem, in January.
The primary motive behind this free detector is to allow users across roughly 20 of the most common digital platforms to scan their playlists for synthetic music.
According to company data, around 43% of users joining Deezer from competing services already have AI-generated music in their playlists.
It has been observed that Deezer flags AI -generated songs, automatically stripping them from algorithmic recommendations and curated playlists.
In this connection, Deezer said: “This is the first step in making sure that these tracks don’t dilute the royalty pool in any significant way.”
In line with a landmark 2025 Cisac study, around 25% of artists' revenue could be at risk of being lost to AI-generated songs by 2028.
Deezer reportedly confirmed that it receives nearly 75,000 AI-generated tracks daily making up more than 44% of its new music delivery which marks a crucial step from the 60,000 daily tracks reported previously.
Furthermore, a recent Deezer and Ipsos survey found that 80% of respondents want AI-generated music to be clearly labeled on streaming platforms.
