Hugh Laurie apologizes for drunken tweet against 'House' critic
Hugh Laurie's apology comes after a 'House' critic was trolled after his response
A day earlier, Hugh Laurie was dominating the chatter on social media after his razor-sharp response to a critic of House.
Now, the actor is apologizing over his remarks.
The row began with a journalist, Janet Murray, slamming the medical drama for repetition.
In response, Laurie delivered a savage takedown of her.
He defended the show and sparked a flood of support from House fans, who, in turn, trolled Murray.
The journalist then wrote an article for an online news outlet.
Laurie, who then realized the backlash had gone out of control, apologized.
"I’m sorry if people have been having a go at you because of my tweet. Not at all the plan."
The 66-year-old admitted he had been a bit drunk at the time and confessed to being upset about a different issue.
"I was very slightly drunk and already upset about something that had nothing to do with you."
In his apology note, Laurie said he was mainly defending the House's writers.
"I was sticking up for the writers who I adored," he shared.
Murray, in response to the actor's apology, wrote back, "Thank you. ‘Having a go’ is probably an understatement."
"But I appreciate the apology and recognize you may have been sticking up for colleagues," she concluded.
