Olivia Rodrigo surprises fans as she debuts new song with 'The Cure's frontman Robert Smith
The singer's new track from her third album 'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love' marked her first ever collaboration
Olivia Rodrigo stunned her fans with a surprise duet on her new song, what's wrong with me, with Robert Smith at Primavera Sound festival.
The new track, which is part of Olivia's third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, is set to release this upcoming Friday.
Olivia expressed her joy over collaborating with Robert, saying onstage, "It’s really special to me for so many reasons... primarily because it’s my first collaboration. I can’t believe this song exists and with the person that it exists with."
The deja vu hitmaker also took to her Instagram account and shared a video of performing with Robert on stage.
She penned, "What’s wrong with me featuring Robert Smith will be out June 12 with the album."
"I am still in disbelief that Robert who is in my eyes one of the most brilliant, legendary, wonderful people to ever exist is on this record with me. I had the most memorable evening singing it with him at primavera tonight and I cannot wait for this song and record to be yours. 5 days holy s***."
Along with her new track Olivia also performed drop dead, deja vu, bad idea, and the cure during the 45-minute set on the Occident stage at Parc Del Forum.
The Cure frontman, who previously performed with Olivia during her 2025 headline set, revealed in a past interview how he and Olivia keep in touch.
“I bought Sour, and then Guts (both on CD!)... although most of the songs on those two albums are not really ‘aimed at my demographic’(!), they are all so good that it is hard not to fall in love with them," he told Vogue. "She calls me up quite a bit to talk about clothes and fashion – and we have enjoyed a couple of memorable nights in the studio together… I can’t wait to hear what she does next!"
