Graham Norton calls out celebrities for doing more on YouTube than TV
Graham Norton also gives an example to drive his point home
Graham Norton, a veteran talk show host, has a complaint: celebrities are willing to do much more on social media but not on traditional TV chat shows.
He says they are having a hard time booking A-listers because stars are opting for podcasts or YouTube.
In turn, Norton said it is “very hard to stay relevant and say we are still an important part of a promotional tour."
His remarks come at the RTS London Convention, where he joked, “I feel like we might end up being the last chat show on Planet Earth.”
To drive his point home, Norton gave an example of a celebrity he did not name.
He said he “tries to make sure the guests have a nice time." What surprised him, however, was that the actors refused a simple task and opted for an unusual online activity.
“We ask them to show a picture from their yearbook, and they say 'no', and we say ' alright ', and then I’ll be on YouTube, and they are eating f****** hot wings," the late-night show host said.
Norton has hosted the BBC talk show for nearly two decades.
