Stephen Curry signs blockbuster 10-year deal with Li-Ning after Under Armour exit
Stephen Curry chose Li-Ning over several competing offers from both American and international companies
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has signed a major 10-year endorsement agreement with Chinese sportswear company Li-Ning, bringing an end to a lengthy recruitment process following his departure from Under Armour.
According to ESPN, the deal will significantly expand Curry Brand on a global scale and is expected to include basketball footwear and apparel, athleisure products, a dedicated golf line and the ability for Curry to sign both male and female athletes under his own brand.
The agreement was announced on social media on Monday, although financial terms were not disclosed.
ESPN reported that Curry chose Li-Ning over several competing offers from both American and international companies.
One factor in his decision was reportedly his experience testing shoes worn by Li-Ning athletes, including Golden State teammate Jimmy Butler and former NBA star Dwyane Wade.
Li-Ning also plans to open Curry Brand stores in both the United States and China as part of the long-term partnership.
The move comes after Curry ended a 13-year relationship with Under Armour in November.
While the split was described as mutual, ESPN reported that there had been growing frustration over what industry sources viewed as a lack of investment in the brand.
