An insider has revealed why Jamie Foxx and Alyce Huckstepp parted ways for a short period of time in 2025.

For those unaware, Foxx and Huckstepp called it quits in January 2025 after two years of togetherness. The couple eventually remained successful in rekindling their romance, and now they are expecting their first child together.

The source told PEOPLE magazine that the 58-year-old American actor, singer, and comedian is in a much better place with his partner.

"When Alyce first came into his life and they started dating, Jamie was still recovering from the stroke,” the insider said. “He really enjoyed dating her and thought she was special, but it was also a difficult time for him personally.”

In April 2023, Foxx suffered a severe brain bleed that led to a stroke when he was in Atlanta. His sister rushed him to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and went into a coma for 20 days. He then regained consciousness and underwent extensive rehabilitation that eventually led him to a strong recovery.

During his breakup with Huckstepp, the Django Unchained star “was trying to get his life and his career back at the same time," they shared.

"It wasn't that he didn't care about her. It was more that he was trying to get back to normal while also figuring out how to balance a serious relationship again,” stated the insider.

It is pertinent to mention that Jamie Foxx is already a father of two daughters, as he welcomed Corinne with ex Connie Kline and Anelise with ex Kristin Grannis.
