King Charles leads historic state opening of parliament in royal tradition
King Charles and Queen Camilla attended the State Opening of Parliament at the palace of Westminster on Tuesday!
Buckingham palace dropped photos from one of Britain's most historic royal ceremonies via Instagram.
This marked the third time King Charles has opened Parliament as Sovereign since ascending the throne in 2022 following the death of Queen Elizabeth.
The details shared in the caption read: "The King and Queen have attended the State Opening of Parliament at the Palace of Westminster."
It continued, "The ceremonial event formally marks the beginning of each parliamentary year. It is the only regular occasion when the three constituent parts of Parliament - the Sovereign, the House of Lords, and the House of Commons - meet."
"Today is the third occasion in which His Majesty has opened Parliament as Sovereign," the caption added further.
It concluded, "Having arrived by carriage procession from Buckingham Palace, The King read a speech written by His Majesty’s Government, which sets out legislation for the year."
King Charles and Queen Camilla, dressed in ceremonial robes, arrived in a grand carriage procession from Buckingham Palace.
