The trip to Reggio Emilia in northern Italy will focus on the Princess of Wales work in early years child development, said a palace statement.

Ahead of the trip, Kensington Palace released Kate Middleton’s statement on social media handles.

The Princess of Wales says, “Looking forward to a special trip to Reggio Emilia in Italy with @earlychildhood, aiming to come to a greater understanding of how we can raise ‘The Whole Child’ - supporting healthy balance in mind, body and spirit.”

She further said, “Our earliest relationships and environments cultivate the social and emotional skills which become the golden thread of lifelong wellbeing, And here, the Reggio Emilia Approach has become a world-leading approach to learning, encouraging children how to ‘live’ connection.”

Earlier, the palace said Kate is “very much looking forward” to visiting Italy and seeing first-hand how the Reggio Emilia approach creates environments where nature and loving human relationships come together to support children´s development.

During the two-day visit Kate will learn about the Reggio Emilia Approach, an educational philosophy which focuses on the idea that children have the potential for self-development.

The centre was founded by the future queen in 2021 to raise awareness of the importance of early years experiences.

The princess, who has three children, revealed in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified cancer and had begun chemotherapy.
