Nancy Guthrie update: Retired FBI agent reveals new theory in Savannah Guthrie’s mom kidnapping

Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping case remains unsolved despite a months-long investigation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

A new yet chilling theory emerges related to the mysterious disappearance of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mom since February, 1.

According to a retired FBI agent, the case of Nancy Guthrie was easily solvable given the scale of mistakes made by the alleged abductor.

Talking to Fox News Digital, Jim Clemente, who spent 22 years with the FBI, said the analysis of blood evidence proves that Nancy was alive when she was abducted from her home.

According to Clemente the specific shape and direction of blood droplets near Guthrie’s front door and a thinning trail toward her driveway unfolds a different story. She aspirated and coughed up blood while her face was pressed close to the ground, a situation he claims would have been prevented had she been carried by two people.

“We also know at least that she was alive at that time,” Clemente said.

Moreover, the blood analysis also points out that when Nancy was abducted she was on her knees or the ground, not being dragged. The thinning trail also suggested that only one abductor was involved in threatening and kidnapping Nancy.

As per Clemente’s observations, the abductor entered Nancy’s room and threatened her with a gun. There is a high possibility that she resisted, especially at the front door.

“At the front door is where she realised he's going to take me and this is very dangerous and I should fight. And she did,” he added.

Mistakes made by kidnapper

Talking about the unprofessionalism shown by the kidnapper, Clemente said, although the suspect seemingly scouted the residence beforehand, he was caught off guard by the presence of a Nest doorbell camera.

In a clumsy attempt, he tried to block the lens using leaves from a nearby potted plant before eventually resorting to smashing and stealing the hardware. Fortunately, the FBI successfully recovered the recorded footage.

Clemente continued, “He is not a sophisticated offender. He was sort of bumbling his way through this, and he made other mistakes, and I believe those mistakes will directly lead to his capture.”

"Because of all the mistakes this guy made, because of his ineptness and non-professional behavior in this, I believe that he exhibited a great degree of stress when the images were first released," Clemente said.

"Anybody around him should have noticed that change in behaviour and potentially be able to identify him because of that."
