Dua Lipa has taken Samsung to court for using her image without her permission.

On Friday, May 8, Lipa filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, accusing Samsung of using a copyrighted backstage picture of her on cardboard boxes containing TVs sold throughout the United States.

After coming across her images, the 30-year-old English singer and songwriter contacted the company to stop using her face for mass marketing, but her request was refused as the company appeared to be “dismissive and callous.”

Lipa has now demanded at least $15 million in damages, with profits the company earned through sales using her snap, which was taken backstage at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024.

PEOPLE magazine obtained the legal documents that state, “Ms. Lipa's face was prominently used for a mass marketing campaign for a consumer product without her knowledge, without consideration, and as to which she had no say, control, or input whatsoever.”

“Ms. Lipa did not allow and would not have allowed this use,” it clarified.

It is pertinent to mention that the complaint also mentioned that Samsung kept using the Grammy-winner’s image even though her representative had already sent cease-and-desist demands after she discovered Samsung's "infringement and violation of her right of publicity" around June 2025.

As per the complaint, “Samsung's response has been dismissive and callous,” and the products “remain on the market to this day.”

“Samsung's infringing conduct — using Ms. Lipa's assets for zero consideration — makes a mockery of her hard work in establishing a successful brand,” the complaint noted.
