Camilla once demanded Kate Middleton change her name: ‘Insulting to her entire family’

Even before she had said her vows in Westminster Abbey, or walked down the aisle, or even became a princess to the British Kingdom, Camilla, who was only recently became King when King Charles took the throne had made a big ask of the bride-to-be Kate Middleton.

The ask is said to have been so big it sent not only her into a fury but was also completely shot down by her husband Prince William.

News of this demand, and the subsequent aftermath that followed has been shared by Royal author Christopher Andersen, in the book Kate! The Courage, Grace and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen.

this book is slated for a release just this week, and according to the author the issue was simple, and about monograms.

For those unversed, both Charles and Camilla had ‘C’ cyphers that interlocked with a crown beneath them, and while Kate is known all around the world as ‘Kate Middleton’ primarily, her real name is Catherine.

However, adding another ‘C’ to the mix slowly became seen as ‘overkill’ and it resulted in Camilla making a demand, on that asked she spell her name with a ‘K’ instead, since “most of the world already knew her simply as Kate anyway,” as New Idea puts it.

But this turned her husband-to-be at the time, furious. So much so that he ended up calling the request “insulting… not only to Kate but to her entire family,” leading to the matter itself being dropped, promptly.
