Hugh Jackman recently revealed how he saved his friend Blake Lively from embarrassment at the 2026 Met Gala just hours after she reached a settlement with her It Ends with Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni over a legal battle.

For those unaware, Lively sued Baldoni in December 2024 for s***** harassing her on the set of It Ends with Us, creating a hostile work environment, and starting a smear campaign against her.

The 42-year-old American actor and director denied the allegations and filed a countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, alleging defamation and extortion, with claims that the couple tried to seize creative control. However, after almost 1.5 years, both stars have settled their legal battle before their scheduled trial on May 18, 2026, in New York City.

On Monday, May 4, the Met Gala 2026 was organised at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where Lively marked her return since 2022 in a pastel archival Versace gown from spring 2006 and custom jewelry designed by Lorraine Schwartz.

On Wednesday, May 6, Jackman appeared on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, where he reflected on his experience at this year’s Met Gala and revealed to hosts that the Gossip Girl star needed help with her sweeping Atelier Versace gown.

"There was another cool moment — I'm literally, as I'm saying it, thinking maybe you shouldn't say this — but Blake, my good friend Blake Lively, goes, ‘Dude, I need some help with the dress. I think there's a hook in there,’” the X-Men star shared, pointing towards his chest.

“And I'm like, ‘OK,' I'm like, ‘Ryan [Reynolds], is this cool? Checking. Are we good?'" he quipped, alluding to her husband with whom he worked in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine.

It is pertinent to mention that Reynolds did not accompany his wife at the Met Gala, whereas Jackman attended the event with his girlfriend, Sutton Foster.
