Drawing inspiration from his own childhood and how he was raised under constant scrutiny, Prince Harry has been applying the same approach to parenting his children.

For those unaware, the Duke of Sussex shares his son, Prince Archie, who turned 7 on May 6, and daughter, Princess Lilibet, with his wife Meghan Markle.

On the birthday of Prince Archie, an insider told PEOPLE magazine that Prince Harry and Meghan are intentionally giving their children space to embrace their own identities.

The source said, "They give their kids space to be themselves — for their different personalities to flourish. After growing up so publicly, that was really important to Harry."

Notably, this comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s four-day trip to Australia in April, where they attended an event hosted by Movember.

At the event, Harry talked about his parenting style, especially when a lot has changed over the years since he was being raised by now-King Charles III and the late Princess Diana.

He articulated, “I see parenting evolving over time. Our kids are our upgrade. Not to say that I upgraded my dad or that my kids upgraded me, but the kids that we bring up in today's world need to be upgraded."

“There’s no judgement, there’s no blame. However, you are parenting… you are going to want to improve on that,” Harry noted.

It is pertinent to mention that the Duke of Sussex strongly believes that therapy played a major role in helping him embrace fatherhood, as he was dealing with some stuff from his past which he had to fix before bringing his kids into this world.

“Certainly, from a therapy standpoint, you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids. I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with,” Prince Harry confessed.
