FDA recalls 9 popular potato chip products over possible salmonella risk

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced an urgent product recall that has been issued for two popular brands of potato chips due to a potential salmonella risk.

Some flavors of Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips may be contaminated with a bacterium linked to a dried milk powder seasoning, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Monday.

The announcement covers nine types of chips in different bag sizes, including salt and vinegar, big cheezy, and sour cream and onion, according to the FDA’s website.

While the affected seasoning batches tested negative for salmonella prior to use, consumers are being urged not to eat any of the affected products and throw them away immediately.

To date, there have been no complaints of illness reported to Utz in connection with the chips.
