Every Breath You Take singer, Sting, opened up about how the "extraordinary work ethic" runs in the DNA of his kids.
The 17-time GRAMMY winning artist recently sat down with CBS News Sunday Morning and talked about passing his fortune to his kids, noting that not letting his children work would be "a form of abuse."
Sting, whose real name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, said on the show, "All of my kids have been blessed with this extraordinary work ethic, whether it's the DNA of it or whether I've said to them, 'Guys, you've got to work. I'm spending our money, I'm paying for your education. You've got shoes on your feet. Go to work.' "
He went on to explain, "That's not cruel, I think that there's a kindness there and a trust in them that they will make their own way. They're tough, my kids."
When asked if his kids did not like the idea, Sting responded, "No, not to my face, they don't."
It is pertinent to mention that the musician is father to six kids, he shares son Joe Sumner, 49, and daughter Fuschia Sumner, 44, with his ex wife, actress Frances Tomelty.
While shares four children: Giacomo Sumner, 30, Jake Sumner, 40, Mickey Sumner, 42, and Eliot Sumner, 35, with his wife Trudie Styler.
Sting previously made similar remarks in an interview with Daily Mail back in 2014. He said at the time that he "certainly" does not want to leave the trust funds for his kids.
"They have to work. All my kids know that and they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate," he added.
