Taylor Swift skipped Met Gala 2026 to avoid awkward encounter with Blake Lively

Taylor Swift did not attend the 2026 Met Gala, sparking speculation about her absence from fashion’s biggest night. 

The singer chose to spend the evening keeping a low profile with her fiancé, Travis Kelce, away from the gala. 

While no official reason was given, some observers are convinced that Swift deliberately avoided the gala to prevent a potentially awkward encounter with actress Blake Lively.

They believe that Taylor Swift does not want to be seen anywhere near her former friend after being dragged into her lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.

Blake Lively also did not react to Taylor Swift’s announcement of her engagement to Travis Kelce on Instagram, although she later made an effort to smooth things over by liking Swift’s Instagram post announcing the release of her album The Life of a Show Girl.

However, her efforts to placate Taylor Swift have not been enough to melt the ice between the two friends.
