Britney Spears cuts deal to dodge jail time over DUI drama
Britney Spears has been charged with a lesser offense due to her no-DUI history
Britney Spears, who was earlier caught in a DUI drama, was reportedly expected to go to jail for this. However, she cut a deal to avoid prison time by pleading guilty.
In entering a plea, the Grammy winner admitted to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs after prosecutors charged her with taking a substance.
However, they did not reveal which drug she took, according to The New York Times.
The troubled star was eligible for the deal and charged with the lighter charge called 'wet reckless' because she had no history of DUI.
Though there is no prison time, the criminal hitmaker is set to face a probation of 12 months as well as mandatory classes for DUI.
Spears was arrested on March 4 by Ventura County Highway Patrol officers.
Her representative at the time issued a statement, stating, “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable."
"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time," the statement concluded.
