Prince Archie’s birthday transforms King Charles into a man of sadness and regret

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Prince Archie is said to ring in another year of life on May 6, King Charles is said to be struggling the most being so far away.

What’s also pertinent to mention is that King Charles is still undergoing cancer treatment, although the frequency of it has been reduced as of January 2026. Fears about his life expectancy has even been shared by his son Prince Harry too, during a BBC interview.

“Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has, he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice.”

As for the monarch’s fears about his son though, they were explained by royal expert Duncan Larcombe.

The commentator spoke to The Mirror while delivering the verdict about King Charles’ sadness.

In his eyes, “I think King Charles is full of regrets over the whole situation, he definitely wouldn't have wanted it to go this way. He has spoken about how much he enjoys being a grandparent.”

A similar admission came via a source, back in December as well. Because at that time the same outlet was told, "King Charles has expressed his wishes to see his grandchildren - and there's no better time than the festive period to bring families together. There is no feeling like being a grandparent and it is a role King Charles relishes. It is his hope for his family to be reunited and there's no better way than spending quality time with his grandchildren at Christmas . It would be truly special."
