The retired Hollywood lighting director said at the time he feels ‘blessed and beyond happy’ to have found joy again after suffering years of anguish after his daughter allegedly ‘dumped’ him after her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

He said: "I never expected to find joy and happiness again at my age. I felt neglected and sad for so many years but now I am enjoying life again.

“After so many tough times I feel truly blessed to have found someone very special who takes such good care of me.”

Thomas had found the new love after he was moved from hospital into a rehabilitation unit.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, Meghan’s estranged father has returned to the US from the Philippines on Saturday after his leg was amputated.

Thomas nearly died when a blood clot in his left thigh cut off the blood supply to his foot five months back.

As he was leaving for home, he and his new love Filipino nurse Rio Canedo, 46, got emotional as they got separated.

Canedo, a divorced mother of two, accompanied Thomas Markle to the airport for an emotional farewell.
