It comes after the Metropolitan Police MET reported that a suspected arson attack has been carried out at a memorial wall in Golders Green, north London, and the fire at the site in Limes Avenue took place at around 12:15 GMT on Monday.

London's Metropolitan Police further stated the area is home to a large Jewish community.

"We recognize that this incident will heighten concerns in ‌the Golders Green area, where residents have already faced a series of attacks," Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams said in a statement.

Over the last month, counter-terrorism officers have arrested more than two dozen people as part of investigations into attacks on Jewish-linked premises.

Although the investigation was being led by the counter-terrorism squad, it was still not treated as a terrorist incident.

London mayor Sadiq Khan also condemned the attack. He said the attack was “appalling” and that he was in close contact with the Metropolitan Police.
