Following in the footsteps of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III spoke to Congress during his visit to the United States of America.

During the second day of his high-stakes state visit on Tuesday, April 28, the British monarch addressed the Congress along with Queen Camilla, where he spoke about the shooting incident that occurred at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

On Saturday, April 25, Donald Trump attended the first White House Correspondents' Dinner as a sitting president along with First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other cabinet members. Soon the high-profile event became utter chaos, as gunshots were fired near the main security screening area. A man named Cole Tomas Allen was arrested and charged as he tried to assassinate Trump.

In his speech, King Charles said, "We meet, too, in the aftermath of the incident not far from this great building that sought to harm the leadership of your nation and to foment wider fear and discord. Let me say with unshakeable resolve: such acts of violence will never succeed."

"Whatever our differences, whatever disagreements we may have, we stand united in our commitment to uphold democracy, to protect all our people from harm and to salute the courage of those who daily risk their lives in the service of our countries," the royal head of Britain stated.

It is pertinent to mention that King Charles’ and Queen Camill’s four-day sate visit to the United States of America comes during its 250th anniversary celebrations.
