Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to have lit a fire under Prince William and Kate Middleton, due to their most recent private tour to Australia that was partly-funded by the Australian government, in respect to security.

According to a palace insider, this move by the Sussexes who were refused part-time royal status by the late Queen managed to pull off exactly that, image wise and its rumored to have left the Wales’s wanting to do more.

The entire conversation surrounding this happened while the source spoke to New Idea and according to their findings, behind Palace walls, the parents to George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 8, are itching to get back into their public facing roles.

The insider with Palace ties was also quoted saying, “now that her health has improved, Kate and William know an official visit to a Commonwealth country as important as Australia – as a family – is overdue, especially since King Charles and Queen Camilla, who are in their late 70s, made the trip in 2024.”

But that isn’t the only reason, because “they are well aware too that an official tour by them will take any gloss off Prince Harry and Meghan’s recent, controversial visit,” and that’s partly the fuel.

For those unversed with the couple’s tour and engagements. They ranged across Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney. While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle each had paid private engagements, one as a keynote speaker and one as the host of a women-only ‘Girls Weekend’ retreat hosted by the Her Best Life podcast. They also had other outings, like Meghan’s secret appearance on Masterchef Australia, their visit Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club, and an Invictus Australia sailing event in Sydney Harbour, etc. etc.

As for what the palace thinks about this faux-royal tour, they say, “it was exactly what Queen Elizabeth refused as an option when Harry and Meghan decided to leave full-time royal work in 2020, ahead of their move to California.”

So now, “William and Kate both know that they need to give Australia a real ‘bells and whistles’ royal tour as soon as their schedule allows. William and Kate know that the Australian public deserve better. It’s their job to make it happen.”
