MONSTA X members opened up about their first reunion after completing mandatory military service and their new album Unfold.
For those unaware, South Korean law obliges men ages between 18 and 28 to serve in the military for 18 to 21 months. This law prepares them to fight if any unfortunate incidents happen, as South Korea is technically at war with North Korea.
The members of the boy band ,namely JOOHONEY, SHOWNU, I.M, MINHYUK, HYUNGWON, and KIHYUN, chatted with PEOPLE magazine to promote their recently released studio album Unfold.
During the conversation, they were asked to share how they felt when they reunited in August 2025 after completing their mandatory military service.
The reporter asked if meeting after months came with “lots of hugs,” to which they replied, “Nah,” while KIHYUN added, "We're boys."
As the conversation moved forward, they said that they did not have much time for “relaxing” after their return because their album was due.
SHOWNU quipped, "We just released our new album and we prepared a concert," adding that the boys’ music band had extremely "busy days."
When they were how they would describe their album in a single word, MINHYUK called it "love,” whereas SHOWNU said “honesty.”
It is pertinent to mention that MONSTA X, who dropped a brand-new album called The X in September 2025, released Unfold on April 3, 2026.
