Prince Harry issues plea to the US amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
Prince Harry sends a message to US President Donald Trump amid Russia’s continued invasion attempts at Ukraine
Prince Harry has issued many a claims ever since he landed in Kyiv, Ukraine for his unannounced visit this Thursday. What started off with a direct message to Russian President Vladimir Putin even featured US President Donald Trump more recently, and it all happened at the Kyiv Security Forum.
During this conversation he reminded the president of his wife’s homeland, “The United States has a singular role in this story not only because of its power but because when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons, America was part of the assurance that Ukraine's sovereignty and borders would be respected.”
He also added, “this is a moment for American leadership, a moment for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations, not out of charity but out of its own enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”
As for Europe’s role he also doubled down saying, “Europe has stood up in profound ways. And that support has mattered, and Ukraine knows it. The task now is to match endurance with speed.”
But it was near the end that the Duke of Sussex got more explosive in his comments and pointed out the stark difference between the respect for international law and human life that Ukraine is showing vs Russia because given the invasion, the royal feels the “distinction could not be clearer.”
Moreover, before concluding he also said, “Under international law, this forcible transfer of children from one national group to another is not just a war crime. It can constitute an act of genocide. When carried out with intent to destroy a people's identity.”
